Public bike pump & maintenance unit
Thanks to the Cycling Friendly Fund, everyone can use this sunshine-yellow unit free of charge. It is situated outside the Community Centre on Morrison Place and has a bike pump as well as a selection of tools.

Do you live in Acharacle and would you like to try out an e-bike or e-trike?

We’re offering low-cost e-bike hire with minimum donations being £10 a week for Community Company members! or £20 a week for non community company members.  We have some accessories (lights, locks and  helmets ) that you can borrow along with the bikes, if you haven’t got your own. A safety  induction session and registration is needed before you can hire a bike, and we have a maximum hire period of 4 weeks.

Our e-bike scheme started in 2022, with funding from the Cycling Scotland Cycling Friendly Fund. In addition to our first three e-bikes, this has enabled us to purchase a bike shelter to keep your bike safe and dry when visiting the Community Centre, as well as a public bike pump/maintenance unit, which was installed in April 2024 and available for anyone to use free of charge.

Thanks to the Cycle Share Fund from Cycling UK, we have recently been able to make our small fleet more inclusive: we now also have an e-trike, two more e-mountain bikes in different sizes (Medium and Small) and an e-cargo bike (with room on the back for 1-2 children, luggage or a pet?).

Click here for a short video of our new e-trike in action!

We‘re also looking for volunteers to help look after the bikes between being loaned out, to allow the smooth running of the project and to make sure the bikes are in the best condition. If you have a bit of spare time to help, please get in touch. A complete tool set and bike stand are available at the centre for any volunteers to use to repair their own bikes as well as the e-bikes.

Please get in touch if you’re interested in borrowing a bike or helping to look after the bikes.
